- The six-man gospel music group Take Six usually sings a
- cappella tunes about divine love. But the singers have many
- worldly friends who may just help the group's debut album Take
- Six place in next month's Grammy nominations. Stevie Wonder
- greets callers on his answering machine with Take Six's layered
- harmonies and says its sound has "changed my life." Leonard
- Bernstein, Placido Domingo and Isaac Stern are also fervent
- fans. "Having six of us allows us to sing full chords," says the
- group's arranger, Mark Kibble. "There's something about
- harmonies that affects people emotionally." All in all, not bad
- for guys who began singing together in a college shower. Says
- Take Six's tenor Claude McKnight: "Porcelain walls make for good
- acoustics." There's hope for all bathroom baritones.
